My Divorce Practice

I work closely with men and women at all stages of a divorce, whether you are only considering separating, or your divorce is final and you need to seek modification or enforcement of an existing divorce decree.

I handle all matters related to or arising out of divorce, including:

  • Separation agreements. In Maryland, you can resolve all of the issues arising out of your divorce by agreement with your spouse. I will help you carefully construct a separation agreement that protects you and your family's interests.
  • Child custody and child support. I will work with you to establish and implement custody and visitation arrangements that are in the best interests of your minor children while protecting your rights as a parent. I will also work with you to implement child support orders in compliance with Maryland guidelines and the needs of your children.
  • Spousal support or alimony. I will help you determine whether alimony is warranted and, if so, the appropriate amount and duration of payments.
  • The division of marital property. I will help you come to agreement on the equitable distribution of marital property, including real estate, personal assets, bank accounts and investments, retirement accounts and business assets.  We will also explore and take into account any non-marital property (that is, property that existed since before the marriage, or property received by inheritance or gift during the marriage).
  • Mediation. If you choose to resolve family law matters through cooperative mediation, I will help you understand the mediation process as well as your rights, so that you can use mediation most effectively to come to long-term agreements.

Though I encourage clients to find ways to amicably resolve marital disputes, I will never hesitate to take your case to court when appropriate to protect your interests. I don't take a "cookie cutter" approach to family law matters. Instead, I adopt the strategies that I believe will best help you reach your goals.
